Hi, I’m Callie, The Picky Gourmet. I’m a gluten free chef living in Los Angeles with my talented sous chef, Matt and my bossy French Bulldog, Violet.
Growing up in Colorado, I was just picky, not a gourmet. The list of foods I would not touch with a ten-foot pole was longer than the list of what I would eat. As I became more gourmet, I became less picky. Funny how that happens! After moving to Southern California for college nine years ago, I started exploring food and trying new things. I found a real passion for eating. My passion for cooking, on the other hand, grew in large part out of necessity.
I went gluten free in 2009 after a series of health problems lead me to undergo a battery of tests then embark on a pretty severe elimination diet. Cutting out wheat made the pain go away but it also meant I had to start putting a lot more thought into how and what I was eating. I became an avid home cook and this inspired me to go to culinary school. I completed the professional series at the New School of Cooking in Culver City, CA and I LOVED it.
I use this blog to share my gluten free recipes and thoughts on gluten free life. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to leave comments, questions and suggestions!

Hey Callie,
Just thought of dropping a line to first of all than you for your kind words over at my space and also for introducing me to your lovely world out here.
Can’t resist myself from writing that I LOVE your doggy. He’s sooo cute
Hi Callie,
I stumbled across your blog today looking for a good ranch dressing recipe. I’m hooked! I just went gluten free in August, and I’m excited about trying more of your creations. Thanks for sharing your talents and knowledge with us.
